Tyrone Davis is been in hospitality IT management for the past six years, currently at the Grand Hyatt Washington. As a member of HFTP, he has served on the board of directors for both the New England Hotel and Greater Washington DC Hotel chapters. You can network him on LinkedIn or through e-mail.
What is your specialty in hospitality and why do you enjoy your job?
I became IT Manager of a travel-industry company very closely related to hospitality over 12 years ago. Having made the transition to managing IT directly in hospitality six years ago, I’m currently at my second property now.
The honest fact that unlike many branches of technology, no two weeks are the same in the hotel business — the variety is enjoyable.
Emerging technologies, interesting associates to support, something new to learn all the time and lately, even more involvement in satisfying the unique technology needs of groups (ie. our robot will need a fixed IP address on your wireless feed). Read More »

How many HITECs have you attended?
HITEC 2012 in Baltimore, Md. is my first HITEC conference and I am really looking forward to it. I specialize in communications, technology and sustainability – and I see a lot of exciting trends in these areas for the hospitality and tourism industry.
There is so much going on around mobile technology right now.
Travelers can pretty much do everything related to their trip with a smartphone or tablet and without having to print anything. Read More »
[Part 1] HITEC 2012 Preview
This is a two-part series previewing HITEC 2012, held June 25-28 in Baltimore, Md.
In case you weren’t aware, HITEC 2012 is knocking on our door. So things are in full swing here at the HFTP office – HITEC headquarters. We’re busy putting finishing touches on HITEC so it is a successful show for attendees and exhibitors.
Everyone is starting to buzz about HITEC and there’s so much new stuff this year that I wanted to share with you so you can start planning your HITEC trip accordingly. You don’t want to miss out on all the fun.
