Clubs
Written by Briana Gilmore

The greatest advantage of attending a professional development conference like HFTP's Club Summit is the vital opportunity to assemble with a high-level group of club professionals and industry experts, and directly address the topics that are most compelling and important to this specialized segment of hospitality.

This year, the Club Summit will be held May 24-25 at the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach - a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This event promises club professionals two days of advanced education addressing industry strategy, trends and engagement. By attending Club Summit, you can create meaningful connections with your professional peers, reinvigorate your enthusiasm for your work, develop a stronger skillset, and learn valuable strategies that you can take back to your organization to implement a better future.

Safe Space, Valuable Networking

Making the decision to return to face-to-face professional development requires a great deal of thought and planning, especially after the turmoil brought on by the global pandemic this past year. HFTP understands the importance of planning ahead for your health and safety. The association has implemented several measures to properly protect attendees and provide a safe space for learning and networking engagement. These protocols (which are fully outlined in this document) include use of face coverings in public, maintaining three feet of social distancing where possible, refraining from direct contact with other attendees, encouraging hand-washing and use of hand sanitizer, and self-screening for Covid-19 symptoms.

The venue has also introduced its own safety measures through the Hilton® EventReady™ with CleanStay program that introduced a new standard of hotel cleanliness and disinfection. Watch this video to see how Hilton addresses safe group travel practices and has designed today's event experience to be clean, flexible, safe and socially responsible.

Did you know? Due to the global pandemic, HFTP has relaxed the cancellation policy.

HFTP also understands that anything can happen between now and May. We want you to feel confident enough to register now at the best possible price, and still reserve the right to change your mind. Therefore, we have updated our cancellation policy for the 2021 HFTP Club Summit.

The transfer of a registration to a colleague is free of charge; however, it must be submitted in writing to HFTP. Those who register for the in-person HFTP Club Summit but are unable or unwilling to attend will receive a full refund. All cancellation requests must be received in writing to HFTP three business days prior to the event by emailing [email protected].

Enjoy your stay along the stunning south Florida coastline.

When you book your stay at the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel, you will enjoy stunning surroundings and 44 breathtaking acres along the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida. Located near the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the hotel is just a water taxi ride away from the shops, restaurants and nightlife of Las Olas Boulevard (check out this list of nearby restaurants).

You can relax on the white sandy beach or enjoy fun-filled activities for the family, including water sports, sightseeing cruises, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, scuba excursion, the Jungle Queen, and more (check out this list of things to do!). Lounge by the pool with refreshments or enjoy live music on the patio.

Take home a special Florida souvenir — a host of new ideas, strategies and best practices for your club.

This past year has taught the world so much about the importance of planning ahead. Planning is vitally important to success and ensures you are not caught off-guard in the event of an emergency. Even when the waters are calm, planning helps you achieve future targets and objectives, putting your club ahead of the game. Attending the Club Summit is a great way to learn valuable planning strategies for the future. The 2021 educational program features eight comprehensive sessions that will address:

  • Important tax and legislation updates for U.S. clubs.

  • How to create an IT strategic plan for your club.

  • A session on human resources in 2021, including employment law and best practice guidelines.

  • A 2021 cybersecurity and compliance outlook to help you protect your club against possible cyber attacks.

  • Advice from a Club GM, controller and auditor on the operational, financial, governance and reporting changes brought about by the pandemic.

  • New opportunities for clubs to use smart technology to benefit business and future reporting.

  • How to combat third-party risk for business resilience, including best practices and practical guidelines.

  • Finally, the event will conclude with an open forum to cover the club issues of yesterday, today and tomorrow. What impact has the pandemic had on the industry, and where do we go from here?

In between the sessions, enjoy special networking breaks to connect with fellow attendees and discuss the day's hottest topics, while you also check out table top exhibits of today's leading industry solution providers.
