Meet Brian Binge, CHTP, 2014 HFTP Outstanding Member Recognition Winner

New this year, the Outstanding HFTP Member Recognition program was developed to recognize HFTP’s hardworking members for their dedication and enthusiasm to the hospitality industry and society. Members were encouraged to nominate fellow HFTP members or student members who go the extra mile in the area of volunteerism.

HFTP is pleased to recognize Brian Binge, CHTP of the HFTP Rocky Mountain Chapter, serving members in Colorado, as a 2014 HFTP Outstanding Member Recognition recipient for going above and beyond in the area of volunteerism.

Brian Binge was nominated for his volunteer commitments as the current mission coordinator, past president and group leader for the all-volunteer, non-profit Summit County Rescue Group, one of the busiest search and rescue groups in North America.

The Summit County Rescue Group is tasked with responding to emergencies in Colorado’s High Country where traditional emergency response (ambulance, fire, police) are not able to respond.

In addition to being “on call” 24/7 once every six weeks; as the primary mission coordinator, Binge trains at least once a week with the group. He leads a number of training sessions and has given approximately 220 hours of his time this past year volunteering for a cause that truly saves lives in precarious situations.

Binge was recently commended by the Summit County Sherriff’s Office for his work as a member and coordinator of the multi-agency Rapid Avalanche Deployment Team. This is a select group of ski patrollers, avalanche forecasters and SAR members whose monthly training and deployments with Flight for Life give quicker responses to avalanche accidents in the Central Rocky Mountains, where time is of the utmost essence.

An Eagle Scout and former EMT, Binge has found a place for his skills leading both an IT team and a busy rescue group. Binge is currently the vice president of technology for Breckenridge Grand Vacations based in Breckenridge, CO.

HFTP is honored to recognize Brian Binge, CHTP for his time and dedication to his community and the hospitality industry. Congratulations Brian and thank you for all of your time and efforts.
